East 2018-2019
For the fourth year in a row and a
MemphisHoopers.com record,
East Mustangs
are the unanimous Preseason Top Ten
No. 1 coming out the gates "Ten Fold". With three straight
Division AAA TSSAA
State Championships in a row handily to go along
with another six championships to make nine

school. They are definitely in prime position for a
fourth straight title run to make it "10".
Former East head coach and local living legend Anfernee 'Penny' Hardaway
has taken the head coaching position at his alma
mater 'University of Memphis' after notching a three year stint
making big boy nationwide noise and what Memphis
Basketball Flat Footed Needed!!!
The
East Mustangs
are
coached by Jevonte Holmes and
Rocky Johnson who both were Penny
assistants all three years, with Holmes being
elevated to running the team on day to day
activities and functions. Holmes comes from a strong Memphis
coaching legend in Jimmy Adams at Raleigh Egypt
from 2005-2009. With the espn No. 1 player in
the country
James Wiseman
already committed to the University of Memphis
and a first as for final No. 1 committing to the
Tigers overall who will be a for sure McDonald's All American.
James Wiseman
Senior
James Wiseman
(7'0 - 225 lbs., espn #1,
Memphis commit)
one of the top premier players in the nation and
also a candidate for many national accolades will
lead this relatively young ball club but
definitely experienced with several seasoned
seniors and a lock
for No. 1 in coming nationwide polls. Coach
Holmes said.
Wiseman
post game has improved tremendously over the
summer to go along with his scoring from all
over the court in strong fashion including his
long range shooting. His overall stat
intangibles he does in every game have been
underrated as he makes all teammates game ready
better.
Malcolm Dandridge
Another top senior
Malcolm Dandridge
(6'7 - 230 lbs., 24/7 #135, Memphis
commit)
one of the most solid power forwards in the
region that possesses a man child body with an
overall toughness on both sides of the basketball.
Dandridge
runs the floor for his strong size very hard at
all times and
displays great overall court vision while also
being one of the top defenders on the basketball
team via all opponents with an improved
offensive inside game.
Dee Merriweather
(6'0
- 160 lbs.)
has one of the best shots in the city with
unlimited range all over the court, Coach Holmes
has stated many times before,
Merriweather
in any presented situation before him displays
playmaking ability notching solid results
especially from long range as being a proven
knock down shooter 'Ten Fold". Senior
Antonio Thomas (6'0
- 170 lbs.)
the most athletic defender all over the court on
the basketball club with good range on his jump
shot and a floor general while being a strong
team leader at the same time.
Fifth
senior on the history making mustangs is
Nathan Hallowell
(6'1
- 215 lbs.)
is the heart and soul of this
basketball team as Coach Holmes stated. Also is a lock
down defender and the best perimeter defender not only
on the team but in the city.
Sophomore
Jadarius Jacobs
(6'2 - 180 lbs.)
is another
high energy player who had a break out summer and
probably the most improved player in the city. Junior
Isiah Cathey
(6'2 -
180 lbs.)
will get plenty of minutes and
another good shooter
off
the bench. Freshman
Marquis Washington
(6'5 -
185 lbs.)
comes from a long line of brothers that have attended
East.
Washington
is long, athletic, and brings
dynamic play when he enters the ball game and a top
freshman in the city where coaches need to keep an eye
on this young man.
Marquis Washington
East Mustangs
will start off the season with a Hall of Fame
Game against
Mitchell
@ Mitchell. They play
Olive Branch,
Prolific
Prep,
Holy Innocents out of Atlanta
during the month of December before they
end the month at the prestigious
Chic Fil A
Christmas Tournament in
Columbia, South Carolina. In January they will
attend another nationwide top tournament in
Springfield, Missouri in the National
Bass Pro Classic.
